GRACELIFE LONDON

The History…

About four years ago, two men, Tom Drion and Ross Orgill, set out to return to the United Kingdom to preach the Gospel in what they considered the most strategic location to reach not just an area or city but the nation with the good news concerning the person and work of Jesus Christ. They decided that the best place to undertake such a work was in the major city of London.

In 2011, these men were sent out by Grace Community Church to plant a church in London. By the Lord’s providence, these men were given a church building in Central London in a matter of weeks after moving to London to begin a church plant. The church began with ten people and in four years has grown to over 100.

The Need…

With the growth of the church and the various ministry responsibilities that resulted, the pastors thought it best to add another man to their ministry to help continue the work that the Lord had entrusted to them. In January of this year, 2015, Tom and I discussed the work the Lord was doing in London through GraceLife. The initial discussions sparked much interest from us. In March, with much prayer and at the request of some of the elders, we decided that we would visit GraceLife London and see for ourselves what was happening in London.

After nine days in the city meeting the members of the church and seeing the ministry that was being done, it seemed clear that the Lord would have us join the work taking place in London. This was evident as the needs of the church and our gifts seemed to be a match. As we spoke with godly men whom we trusted to advise us, our thoughts concerning helping in London were affirmed.

The Church…

While visiting, several important features of a biblical church were evident in GraceLife London. First, Tom and Ross are godly men who have committed themselves to seeing the Gospel go from London to the UK to the world through the preaching of the Word of God. We were familiar with Tom and Ross before visiting the church as they were in their final years at The Master’s Seminary when I was starting there. During their time in seminary and to this day, they have demonstrated themselves as men who were serious about their call to the ministry. During our visit, the church constantly spoke highly of them, their leadership, and their teaching.

Second, the members of the church have a love for Christ which gives them an overwhelming love for expository preaching and for each other. When asked how they ended up attending GraceLife London, over and over it came down to wanting to hear the clear preaching of God’s Word and finding exactly that at this church.

Third, the prospect of working with Tom and Ross while ministering to and with these precious people is truly a gift from our gracious Lord. People often tell Dana and I what a wonderful opportunity it is to live in London. We can only respond that London is a beautiful city but it is nothing compared to GraceLife London and the people the Lord continues to call to faith through the work of this ministry.
